Cooper is a two and a half year old bully mix with a beautiful brindle coat and athletic build at 45 pounds. Easygoing and calm, Cooper is content with sleeping all day or going on a ten mile hike. He is simply up for whatever his owner's are doing. With tons of energy outside, Cooper loves to run off leash, fetch tennis balls, and hike. Inside, he is a giant couch potato. He is extremely well trained in basic obedience, off leash play, walking, waiting for the "OK" for food, to go outside, get on furniture, and cross the street. Because Cooper was originally raised in a family with young children, he is unbelievably gentle with kids, babies, and loves everyone he comes in contact with...even the mailman and strangers on the street. You can at any point take away a toy, food dish, or bone mid-chew, as he is not food aggressive whatsoever. His foster mom jokes that he is the dog you can literally do anything to, as he is very passive and gentle. Occasionally, he loves to trot around with his stuffed animals or play tug-of-war, but always welcomes a good nap. He is crate-trained, housebroken, and good around cats.

Being tossed around to several foster homes and kenneled for long periods of time without adequate exercise, however, has made Cooper anxious. He follows his foster mom around the house and often looks worried. Currently, Cooper takes a daily dose of anxiety medications which have calmed him down and helped him feel at ease and he will continue to improve over time. Without proper socialization to other dogs as a puppy, Cooper is very fearful of other dogs which often portrays as aggression. Although he walks excellently in a pack, his anxieties show full on when in a small group of stationary dogs, and therefore must go to a one-dog household. We believe this lovable guy will come a long way with consistency, patience, and long-term work with desensitizing him to other dogs.

Cooper is fiercely loyal, extremely affectionate and playful, and eager to please. Someone once told us kennel dogs are more grateful to humans than a full bred pup would be, as they've seen and experienced more influx, change, and insecurity than we can ever know. Cooper is exactly that, and then some, and deserves a permanent home with a patient, gentle family with big hearts and lots of space for him to run free.
