My name is Roxy.  I would say Hi, but I am not real big on talking to strangers.  I spent the first 4 years of my life in misery being bred in a puppy mill then in someone’s backyard as an outside dog.  When I was finally rescued by Haven to Home, I figured it was my chance for freedom so I escaped my one foster home and was on the lamb for a month until they finally caught me.  But, I am quite happy they caught me.

I now live with my most favorite canine foster brother and sister, Thomas and Baby.  They make me feel safe and have taught me lots of things dogs do and how to have fun.  I am learning that not everything is super scary, but I still get scared really easy.  I love when we all go for long walks and car rides and even trips through the drive thru. Our trips to the dog park are awesome. I love to eat and play with my canine foster sibling. When nothing is scary, I am like most other labs, happy, tail wagging, ready to eat and play.  I love having my butt scratched too.

I am never mean to anyone although I did finally figure out that I can bark at scary people, so I do.  I bark at the men in the house when they walk towards me.  They are not as scary as they used to be, especially when they are sitting down.  They do give me yummy treats and I will run up to take them, but then I get scared and run back behind my foster mommy or Thomas or Baby.

I have learned so very much while living with my foster family, but I still will need a family that can keep me safe because if I get too scared I might try to run away again until I know you and know you will take good care of me.  I would also prefer no men, but if a kind gentle man who has lots and lots of patience lived in the house after many months or maybe even a year I will accept him living with us.  I can ONLY go to a home that has other doggies.  They make me feel safe.

Roxy is house trained when on a schedule and crate trained. Once she learns to trust her human she will be a great loving dog in the right environment.  She will do best in a house with a calm environment and without human males.

Over the past several months Roxy has made a lot of progress.  To continue the progress she is making a home with another dog she can have as a buddy is a must.  A yard with a physical fence (not underground) to help keep her from escaping until she settles in and once she is settled in so she can run and play is necessary.

To make the transition to a new home smoother and because of her multiple fear issues and slowness to adjust, Roxy will require several meetings with her new family prior to adoption so a home in a reasonable travel distance to Lewisburg is necessary.
