Volunteer Opportunities with Haven to Home
H2H rescues and rehomes 15 - 20 dogs a month and about 200 each year.
We depend on the work of dedicated volunteers. We have no paid staff. Currently we have a high need for volunteers who are available during the day, M - F. We have a small group of about 6 volunteers who manage the day-to-day work of Haven to Home – we want very much to expand this group! Additionally, we can always use volunteers for weekend events and fund raising activities.
The volunteer tasks and job descriptions below describe ways for you to help Haven to Home. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Linda Gemberling, Volunteer Coordinator, Haven to Home: at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also fill out our Volunteer Form online.
This is very rewarding volunteer work with a fun team of volunteers!!
Walking Dogs Temporarily Kenneled (< 5 hrs/wk): Mostly M-F, daytime: We use a few local kennels for temporary housing until a foster home opens. We need several volunteers who will walk our dogs during the day and give them opportunities to rehab with people. This assignment is periodic and not continuous, only when we have dogs in this kennel.
Transporter (< 5 hrs/wk): Mostly M-F, daytime: Pick up dogs from owners who are relinquishing them, take dogs to and from vet appointments, to and from foster homes or to new forever homes, to and from special adopt-a-thon events and more. If you assist with vet appointments you will be trained in our vet protocol.
Grant Writer (< 5 hrs/wk): May be done anytime: Prepare grant and foundation applications for supplemental funding for H2H services.
General Volunteer (as available for events): Assist at weekend adopt-a-thons in Lewisburg, Bloomsburg and Selinsgrove areas once a month; assist with community events or fund raising events.
