Harry
Harry

Beau (formerly Harry) continues to amaze me daily. He had two classes for the Canine Good Citizen and he was invited  to visit with the other dogs who go visiting  Riverwoods Nursing Home yesterday.  He was great.  I saw 18 people and 16 held him.  He is learning tricks at the church too.  He continues to be so calm and when I tell the story how I got him, everyone is so impressed how well behaved he is and that  those that turned him down must be crazy.  He is also so cute, they are amazed that he is such a good dog.  When I get every lesson learned he will take a test to see if he can train for a therapy dog.  He has become a bit of a Mama’s boy though.  When I leave the office and my secretary watches him-he whimpers.  Then barrels into my arms.  Paula

Henry

Hello Ladies, I wanted to share a 6 month Happy Tail about Henry. Feel free to edit as needed and I will send pictures after I am done: Well this guy has been with us for six months. I am not going to lie, it hasn't been an easy road. He was very
possessive of me for quite sometime and wouldn't let any of our friends in the house until he greeted them outside. Even then, we had our challenges. If anyone got too close to me, even my husband Dave, he would try to bite them. When Henry needed to go outside he would BOLT for the door like he was on fire. He was never willing to give up a toy or a bone without some kind of struggle, growl or anger. We are very happy to say he is definitely not the same dog!! He sits and waits patiently by the door until I "release" him to go, he loves to share his toys and bones with Ruger, his canine brother, and even shares them with us. When Dave and I get close to each other on the couch, Henry just looks at us and leaves us alone. He still doesn't like the Fed-Ex driver, even though he brings him treats, but then again, what dog does. Thank you very much for honor of adopting him and showing him that he can be treated lovingly and that he won't be shipped away again. In the end, I think that's what is was all about. He never trusted anyone since they were always sending him off to another family every couple of months. He finally realized he is stuck with us and I don't think he is complaining ( the ice cream cone picture) Honey and Dave

Heidi

This is a Happy Tail for Heidi a former Haven to Home foster dog. She is a hound mix who was found in the middle of the road on a cold winter night. One of our fosters took her home and, after awhile, decided to adopt her.

From Heidi's foster/adoptive mom: "....November is adopt a senior dog month....it's been 2 years this weekend that my Heidi came to me as a foster....she is approx 8 or 9 yrs old....now that she is comfortable here with me she plays like a puppy and it warms my heart to see her run across the field....she is a VERY special girl....I never thought I could love a dog unless it was a cute fluffy puppy....well, Heidi taught me different.....she was completely housebroken and had the best manners when she came to me and if it's possible she became an even better girl...."
