Bullet is a 1 ½ year old coonhound mix who weighs around 60 pounds. (He has a short coat, mostly white, with red/brown patches)   He came to us, along with his mom Penny, when their family moved to housing that didn’t permit pets. They were the adored pets of young children in that home and also lived harmoniously with multiple feline friends. Bullet is gentle and quite attached to Penny as he has been with her his whole life. He is housetrained and some leash training work is needed.  He is sweet and affectionate.

They briefly went to a potentially adoptive, multi-dog home where Penny was protective of Bullet with the other dogs. So they are back to foster care now.  Ideally, we’d like to see them adopted to the same home with no other dogs. It is possible in the right home, with some patience and effort, they could become part of a larger pack. But, if necessary, we will separate them.  They would do best with a fenced yard as they can not be left off-leash without a fence.

Bullet’s mom, Penny, is about 50 pounds and around 5 years old. Both are sweet dogs that would love a hound-dog-loving home together.

May Foster Update 2017: Penny and Bullet have been such loves with us and with the children who spend time in our home.   Penny sleeps most of the day away (even with toddlers running around).  They share a large crate because they don't like being apart, and it saves a lot of space!  When they first came to us, I tried to take one of the dogs out to pee at a time and Bullet would just sit in the crate and howl and cry until Penny came back in.  With their Haltis, (Gentle Leaders/Head Harness)  I'm now able to take them on walks together and they have been doing really well with that.  We go on a walk every evening, and they are out for the night by 8pm.  They sleep in the crate together and have never made a peep during the night.  We can't have anything sitting on the counters or table unattended, or they'll snatch it up.  So they are BIG countersurfers. They really compliment each other well.  Bullet needs to get out and run his energy off every day, whereas Penny prefers to smell the roses.  We've met quite a few people, on our walks around Selinsgrove, wholove them, but for various reasons can't adopt right now.  Hoping they soon find their furever home, together!!
