Keturah is a one year old female Newfoundland. She is quite small for her breed at only 80 lbs. She spent the first six months of her life at a puppymill and consequently is timid due to the lack of socialization. In her previous home, she was playing a little too rough with the young children so a home with older kids or no kids would be best.
Since being with her foster family, Keturah has shown great improvement! When introduced properly and slowly to people, she warms right up to them. Keturah is inquisitive and playful when comfortable. She loves balls and loves the other Newfies in the house! Being only one year old, she still has lots of puppy energy and behavior, but she has shown herself to be very trainable and willing to please. The gentlest of corrections will redirect her; she learns very quickly. Keturah is house-trained and crate-trained, and she rides well in the car.
Keturah is learning basic commands and how to walk nicely on a leash, (walks are new for her so still a bit on the scary side). She is a very affectionate dog and loves to give kisses. This sweet girl will make a great companion for someone who is willing to slowly continue introducing her to new people and places. Keturah needs to build up her confidence!
