Foster or Forever Needed

Lexi Mae is a 1-year old Lab Mix (looks mostly like a lab).

Here is what her current foster has to say about her:
Lexi's strengths include: she is 100% housebroken, non-destructive in the house, quiet when crated/confined, not a jumper, not a barker, she likes petting and playing with toys, doesn't even try to get up on the furniture, goes to bed when we do, gets up when we do, does not counter-surf, has one of the fastest recalls I've ever seen! She does know some cues like SIT, Stay (at doors), come, and crate.

Lexi's weaknesses appear to be: resource guarding with other dogs, leash skills - she pulls, and can be somewhat timid with new men - but warms up pretty quick when not pushed, and/or given treats.

She needs a foster / adopter without any other dogs as Lexi is a resource guarder and will guard food/toys/treats from other dogs. She does not appear to guard from people, but small children are unknown. She chased my cat briefly, got hissed at and clawed, and then lost interest. She doesn't bother the cats now.

At first we thought she was maybe a bit cranky because she might be just finishing up a heat - and that might still be true - but she's definitely a resource guarder with other dogs, so a home without any other dogs would be best.

Potentially she's okay around other dogs on walks, etc. She's been completely fine with humans.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.

Applications are the first step in the adoption processPlease do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.

We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions.

We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.

 Thank you!
