Update 12/30/22: Boeing has come a long way building confidence, assuaging fears, and learning how to play and trust. We did a cat test and he showed no aggression. He was curious and wanted to play. He has play time with two of his puppy housemates and loves it. He is eager to make friends. He has gotten better at listening and responding to commands. He is maturing and it’s lovely to see. But he still has plenty of puppy joy bouncing around with his tennis ball and sniffing out his treats during play time. He harnesses up and puts on winter sweaters very easily as well!  He is working on his housetraining skills.

Hiya folks!  I’m Boeing and I am on the hunt for my furever home! I am 8 months old and small; only 22lbs.  Perfect size to fit on your lap, tuck into your home, travel in your car, and I won’t take up much space on your bed at night! I am a rat terrier mix. My DNA testing says I have cocker spaniel and basset hound and cairn terrier in my blood line.  I am neutered, UTD on all vaccines, and on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.

I am looking for a quiet home that has a routine where I can be part of your family and receive a lot of love and attention and exercise. I have a lot of energy and love exploring with my nose. I love fetch, so a fenced in yard would be the best so I can get my puppy runs in and stretch my legs staying safe and contained in the event my nose distracts me.  I also love walks and do well on a leash with a lead. You don’t need to worry about me pulling too hard with the lead. I like to look back at you for reassurance and treats. It lets me know I’m a good boy and keeps me connected with you. I am also okay with a handicap scooter if that is your mode of walking; they don’t scare me! Prior to our walks, I am a good boy at getting harnessed and leashed up and having the lead put on.

I am kennel trained and do not mind being kenneled when needed. Put me in there with a cozy bed and my treat filled Kong, and I’ll settle in. I also respond well if you have a puppy cam on me when you are away. You can check in on me and talk to me and I’ll know it’s you and respond to what you say.

My foster mom was telling me how I am the calmest and most behaved pup in the bath she has ever experienced. I love my baths and they make my coat so soft, perfect for lots of pets and belly rubs, which I also love! My foster mom also says that I’d be good at nose work training classes and games to keep me engaged and develop a close bond with my forever handler.

I am still a puppy; rambunctious and curious about everything. I am a happy and playful boy who thrives on attention and reassurance. I love my Kongs filled with treats, antlers and toy.  Sometimes, I get mouthy in play when excited and can forget my manners. That’s the puppy in me so a gentle reminder and reinforcement of good manners and parameters will be good for me sometimes.

I have little confidence with other dogs and will thrive best as an only dog home. I am curious about other dogs, but they scare me. If I am able to make K9 friends, it will take me a long time (several weeks) with lots of patience in safe environments for introductions.

I know several commands that include:

Come

Sit

Kennel up

Let’s go

Leave it

Who is that?

Potty

Poop

Lay down (still needs work)

Off (still needs work)

Stay (still needs work)

I am potty trained, but since I am still a puppy, I can have accidents from time to time. I will be a very good watch dog and notify you whenever anything sounds amiss. I’d do best in a home with no small children.

I am still learning this big world and hoping to find a family of my own that will love me and give me the attention and time that my foster mom says I deserve. Are you that home to love me and make me part of your family forever? I can’t wait to meet you!
