What Is a Sponsorship Dog? A Sponsorship Dog is a beloved dog who, due to age, medical condition, or special needs, will remain in a dedicated and compassionate foster home for the rest of their life. These dogs are not available for adoption but continue to receive love, stability, and expert care through our sponsorship program. Haven to Home Canine Rescue, Inc. (H2H) covers all veterinary expenses and provides for the dog’s ongoing needs, including food, grooming, and other essentials. We welcome and deeply appreciate donations to support the lifelong care of these special dogs. Contributions can be made as a one-time gift or as a recurring donation—every dollar makes a difference in ensuring these dogs live out their lives in comfort and dignity. Thank you for helping us care for those who need us most. Original Posting: Enjoying life outside of a cage for the first time in 18 months, Ben is starting to show a puppy personality. He loves cuddling and is showing interest in toys and he's already made his way to sleeping in his human's bed at night. Ben is living with four other dogs and two cats. Basically ignoring the cats, he does just fine with both big and small dogs. Benjamin has been given time off leash and readily comes when called. Though he does have a very serious heart issue (A Grade 5/6 Murmur caused by three leaking heart valves), Ben gets the zoomies and runs with great "joy". Our hope for Ben is that he is able to have quality time in a loving environment for whatever time he is given. Cardiology Appointments are quite expensive and he is on compounded medications that cost about $65 a month. 8/15/24: Benjamin Button spent the first 18 months of his life in a puppy mill. He was relinquished due to a heart murmur. Unfortunately, his murmur is not a grade 2 as we were told when we committed to bringing him into rescue, it's much worse. A Grade 5/6 murmur with enlarged heart. 12/23/24 UPDATE: Benjamin continues to Blossom! He is a joy and makes his foster family laugh every day. He has been seen by a specialist and placed on compounded heart meds that cost about $150 every three months. Observing Ben and his absolute delight and zest for life, one would never suspect any health issues. He's living his best life! 3/24/25 UPDATE: Benjamin had his six month recheck with Dr. Goodwin at NorthEast Referral Vet in Plains. Dr. Goodwin is pleased with his health. He should remain on the compounded meds for his heart. Weight is good.
