Petunia needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Petunia is a 30 lb terrier mix who is estimated to be 6-8 months old. She was abandoned and left to fend for herself, but is very people friendly. Her marking's are very pretty with a brindle spot above her tail and matching brindle spots on her chest and back that look like she is wearing a vest. Because of a shortage of foster homes, she is presently being fostered in a family run kennel where she gets attention from the adults and children in the family. The kids love her (and she is great with them)! And the adults say she is a great dog, food motivated for training, and will make a great family dog. She is indifferent to the kennel cat that lives there. She walks well on leash and has responded well to obedience training. She is also quite a kisser and will sit on a willing lap.
We believe she has interacted with other dogs when she was a stray, but have not yet tested her with other dogs. Since she was just spayed on August 31, that is scheduled for next week when she is healed from the surgery.
She has been vaccinated and tested for heartworm and lymes disease.
9/11 Update: She has been interacting with 2 older resident shelties at the kennel where she is staying. Today she was introduced to a young male dog and they did great together, even doing some obedience training and sharing treats. She mastered the "down" command today too after just a few previous sessions with learning it.
