Missie needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Missie is a Flatcoat Retriever who is just a bit over a year old. She came to us a little over a month ago from a neglectful situation, having spent most of the winter tied outside. After some good food and lots of TLC, she now has a beautiful soft and shiny coat and is putting on a little weight and looking so much better than when she first arrived at her foster home weighing only 42 pounds. Initially timid and shy around men, Missie has become more confident, is affectionate, and is enjoying life! Missie has 2 canine foster brothers that she loves to play with. Initially, she found the cat very interesting, but learned that chasing the cat is not acceptable and has since learned that cuddling on the couch with him is much better! She is house trained, has learned to use the doggy door, and enjoys exploring the fenced yard (especially if there are squirrels or rabbits around!) or laying in the grass. She recently met the neighbors 3 year old child and Missie did pretty well. Missie is energetic and is learning not to jump, so she may need a home with bigger kids. Her foster mom says, Missie is a real cuddlebug, loving time spent just snuggling. She likes to crawl under the covers of the bed. She added that, "Missie has been a blessing to us! She is a very loving, friendly girl that needs a calm, patient family."
